A subject very near and dear to my heart is vacationing with my husband! Taking time to be together, ALONE is a great way to re-ignite the spark in your marriage! Vacations at all-inclusive resorts take the hassle out of where to eat, and trips to the grocery to stock up on snacks and supplies...vacations at Adults Only resorts bring you into a world with NO children!
There are so many choices, at all different price points for Adults Only All Inclusives in Mexico! With so many non-stop flight options, and close proximity to the United States, Mexico is usually the best value when considering airfare into your travel budget!
One of the least expensive Adults Only options is the Golden Parnassus in Cancun, which was formerly called the Golden Crown Paradise Club. My husband and I stayed here for our first trip to Mexico. It was also the first of many vacations alone together.
This intimate 214 room resort caters to both singles and couples. The rooms have either an ocean view or a lagoon view. We upgraded to an ocean view and thought it was worth the extra money! Initially, the "lagoon" view was a real turn-off for me, but once we got to the resort, I could see that the lagoon actually looks more like a lake, and is very pretty. From the lagoon view vantage point, you can also see the street and goings-on at the local shops and restaurants!
Although there is only one pool, it was large enough to accommodate the resort patrons...lots of activities orchestrated by the entertainment staff such as water and beach volleyball, water aerobics and games. You could choose to participate, or not. We mostly chose to NOT, and instead enjoy the gorgeous beach and sun-shading palapas.
The beach bar was so much fun to sit and talk to other resort patrons...but the highlight was Fonzi, the bartender. He was SO entertaining, and obviously loved his job. He actually still works there, after all of these years! A dollar tip here or there, got you premium tequila for your margaritas, which were wonderful!
Speaking of the beach...the Golden Parnassus has a fantastic location on the Cancun beach! Situated in between the Ritz Carlton and the Meridian, the beach in front of the resort offers a peaceful beach experience!
The Golden Parnassus has 5 restaurants, which include a buffet with a huge selection of entrees for breakfast and lunch. Our favorite for dinner was Shangri-La, which had gourmet food in elegant surroundings with an attentive staff...we ate there almost every night. There were more casual options at their steak house and seafood restaurant, too.
If you're interested in night-life, the entertainment staff hosts a group visit to the downtown Cancun bars...I did not partake in this perk, so can't comment on it. They usually left the resort about 10:00pm, which was when my husband and I were going to bed!
Though the Golden Parnassus is not the Ritz Carlton, the value of a vacation at this Adults Only resort can not be beat!
